Pink Shirt Day is approaching! Wednesday February 29th will be here before you know it. Pink Shirt Day is a fabulous reminder for everything that bullying exists in many forms.

When I say bully, you probably think of a big kid in school that’s shaking a kid upside down for his lunch money. But the 21st century bully is a lot sneakier. They are on line, with fake names and fake twitter / facebook accounts, they are too weak to show who they really are. They are every age, every race, and every sexual orientation. They are your classmates, your co workers, your “friends”.

If you don’t know a bully or can’t identify one, it’s probably you. The best way to stop bullying is to identify it and confront the individual. Make sure that you do not stand around while someone is bullying another person because that makes you guilty by association. Imagine if you were with a group of people and you saw one bully picking on someone and everyone stood together to tell that person that bullying is not appropriate. There is strength in numbers.

Also, if you are being bullied, you are not alone. Contact someone and find the help you need to overcome the situation.
